Before we visit Howard University, let's talk about one of it's most influential deans Charles H. Houston. He is known as the architect of the legal strategy to desegregate the United States. Mr. Hamilton Houston used his position as Dean of Howard University School of Law to adapt the curriculum to the legal needs of our community. He effectively trained a generation of lawyers who possessed the expertise to fight for the civil rights of Black Americans. As Lead Counsel for the NAACP legal defense, he got to work--dismantling segregation laws one case at a time.
